Correct cable connections for desktop computers require distinguishing between external device connections and internal power cable connections. The core steps include: inserting the power cord into the host computer's power jack; connecting the monitor to the host computer via a VGA or HDMI cable; plugging the keyboard and mouse into USB ports; and connecting the network cable to the host computer's network port. For internal connections, ensure that the motherboard's 24-pin and CPU's 8-pin power cables are aligned with their respective connectors. Connect the front panel cables according to the motherboard markings for positive and negative terminals.

External Device Connection Steps
External connections involve connecting the host computer to the monitor, keyboard, mouse, network cable, etc., ensuring the connectors are compatible and the orientation is correct:

Power Cord Connection: Plug the power cord into the power jack on the back of the host computer (usually located at the top), without turning on the power.

Monitor Connection: Connect the host computer to the monitor using a VGA or HDMI cable. The host computer's jack is usually labeled "VGA" or "HDMI." After inserting the cable, tighten the screws.

High-end monitors may use a DVI cable to improve display quality.

Keyboard and Mouse Connection: Plug USB devices directly into the USB ports on the back or front of the host computer. For devices with a round PS/2 interface, align them with the corresponding port on the back of the host computer to avoid damaging the interface by excessive force.

Network Cable Connection: Insert one end of the network cable into the network port on the back of the host computer (usually a square interface), and connect the other end to the router's LAN port.

Precautions:

Interface Foolproof Design: All interfaces have foolproof notches. Forcing insertion may damage the hardware; ensure proper alignment.

Positive and Negative Polarity: Pay attention to the positive and negative markings on indicator light wires (such as POWER LEDs). Reversing the connection may cause the light to not illuminate.

Pre-Power-On Check: After completing all connections, connect the power and test the device to ensure it functions properly.
